THROUGH GEORGE WOODSON EASLEY AND DELLA JEANETTE WHITTON AND THEIR FAMILY


SARAH JANE CLIETT EASLEY

Sarah Jane (Cliett) Easley was born September 17, 1844, near Rome, Floyd County, Georgia.  She was the daughter of Minor Jonathon Cliett, born October 10, 1817 in Colombia County, Georgia and Sarah Ann Smith, born August 30, 1820.  Minor Jonathon Cliett married Sarah Ann Smith December 20, 1838. 

Sarah Jane (Cliett) Easley married John Ellington Easley, September 16, 1865 in Talladega, Alabama.  All of their children were born in Texas.  They left Alabama soon after the Civil War and their marriage and moved to Douglassville, Cass County, Texas.  From there, they moved to Hill County, Tarrant County and finally Hardeman County, Texas.

John Ellington and Sarah Jane Easley's children were:

  1. Sarah Ann Easley, born January 25, 1867, Douglassville, Cass County, Texas
  2. William Elbert Easley, born June 15, 1868, Douglassville, Cass County, Texas
  3. Minor Cliett Easley, born February 2, 1870, Hill County, Texas (died as infant)
  4. Singleton Lafayette Easley, born May 5, 1872, Hill County, Texas
  5. John Jenkins Ellington Easley, born April 8, 1874, Tarrant County, Texas
  6. Walter Edwin Easley, born August 16, 1876, Tarrant County, Texas
  7. George Woodson Easley, born October 4, 1878, Tarrant County, Texas
  8. Oscar Easley, born July 23, 1880, Tarrant County, Texas
  9. Henry Franklin Easley, born August 2 1882, Tarrant County, Texas
  10. Emily Alice Easley, born November 11, 1886, Hardeman County, Texas
  11. Janie Easley, born July 11, 1888, Hardeman County, Texas

The complete family are shown in Precinct #3, Chillicothe, Hardeman County, Texas 1900 Census. 

In 1900 Census, William Elbert and Walter Edwin were already married. 

John Ellington Easley died in Chillicothe on February 2, 1908 and is buried at the Big Valley Cemetery.  Sarah Jane (Cliett) Easley is buried next to John.  She died September 18, 1924.
